Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops Announce 2007-2008 Season
For Immediate Release: (April 4, 2007) Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops have been entertaining audiences in Palm Beach County for fifteen years and the 2007-2008 season offers the best of the American Songbook.
The season starts November 8, 2007 at the Kravis Center with a salute to “Contemporary Composers”. This concert series features pieces written by musical legends Barry Manilow, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, John Williams, Billy Joel, and Michel Legrand. Nov 8 & 9 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach and Nov 10,12 & 13 at the Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton.
The second series of the season, “The Best of Broadway,” will have you humming along with Broadway’s brightest singing stars when Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops perform your favorite selections from Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Les Misérables. Don’t miss this sensational evening at the Kravis Center Nov 26 & 27 and at the Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton Nov 29, 30 and Dec 1.
In January of 2008 “The Genius of Cole Porter” pays a tribute to the clever lyrics and sophisticated melodies of this all-American composer, songwriter and musical master. Anything goes, as special guest artists pay tribute to the unforgettable music of Cole Porter.
Jan 4 & 5 at the Kravis Center and Jan 7,8 & 9 at the Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton.
In February, Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops presents “The Best of Jimmy Van Heusen & Sammy Cahn”. This amazing concert showcases some of the 4-time Oscar and Grammy Award winner Jimmy Van Heusen’s greatest hits including Come Fly with Me, Here’s That Rainy Day, All the Way, Call Me Irresponsible, Darn That Dream, But Beautiful, and more. Feb 4 & 5 at the Kravis Center and Feb 7,8 & 9 at the Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton.
The season continues in March when the Pops salute one of the most prodigious and famous songwriters in history when they present “America’s Composer – Irving Berlin & Friends”. Mr. Berlin’s works include Cheek to Cheek, There’s No Business Like Show Business, White Christmas and many more. The essence of the American Songbook is captured in this concert series. At the Kravis Center Mar 3 & 4 and at the Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton Mar 5, 6, & 7.
The 2007-2008 Season concludes with “Remembering the King of Swing – Benny Goodman” a tribute to the music of Benny Goodman. By popular demand, this concert will feature the legendary big band singer Lynn Roberts and master clarinetist Ken Peplowski. At the Kravis Center and April 8 & 9 and at the Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton: April 11, 12, & 13.
