Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres along with presentations by Palm Beach Pops Executive Director David Quilleon, Maestro Bob Lappin, Donald Ephraim and Justin Cidoni of IBERIABank.

ESPN 760’s Jordan Sherwood, co-host of the Sunday Sports Page & Inside the Cage, WIRK DJ Keith Van Allen & Palm Beach Pops Drummer Frank Derrick to appear at Raindancer Steakhouse on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in support of The Palm Beach Pops’ In School Youth Education program, “Music & You.” Live entertainment will include a student jazz ensemble and raffles and door prizes will feature an ESPN gift package including a golf pass and gift certificates for Panthers tickets, two tickets for brunch aboard the Majestic Princess yacht, a Blu-ray DVD player courtesy of Badcock Furniture, Whole Foods gift cards, Raindancer Steakhouse gift certificates, tickets to The Palm Beach Pops concerts, a 2012-2013 Palm Beach Pops Season Subscription and more. A $10 donation will be collected at the door and guests will receive one complimentary drink and free appetizers. All door donations and tips received from bartenders will benefit The Palm Beach Pops Youth and Outreach Program

Bob Lappin & The Palm Beach Pops will “Strike Up the Band” and pay tribute to the “Fascinating Rhythm” of the amazing duo whose compositions bridged the worlds of Tin Pan Alley, Broadway, Hollywood and symphony halls around the globe. Special guest artists Lillias White, Broadway “Quadruple Crown Winner” whose achievements include Tony, Drama Desk, People’s Choice and Outer Critics Awards, Ken Peplowski, world-class clarinetist and legendary jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli will join The Palm Beach Pops for a six night county-wide engagement. The fifth concert series in The Palm Beach Pops 20th Anniversary Season, “The Genius of George and Ira Gershwin” will be performed February 29 & March 1 at the Kravis Center, West Palm Beach, March 2, 5 & 6 at The Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU, Boca Raton and March 3 at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens.

The Palm Beach Pops is the recipient of a $100,000 challenge grant that will be matched dollar for dollar, with a minimum donation level of $1,000. The anonymous donor has not only challenged the orchestra to raise $200,000, but also to secure additional matching funds above and beyond the original amount. While South Florida's Premier Pops Orchestra is financially stable, it has seen a decline in sponsorships, general donations and corporate support. The orchestra plans to use the funding to attract guest artists and fund its nationally recognized Music & You In-School Youth Education Program, which has taught the fundamentals of music to nearly 90,000 underserved schoolchildren in Palm Beach County at no cost to the schools or taxpayers. Shop January 18 at Whole Foods Market Palm Beach Gardens and 5% of net sales will benefit The Palm Beach Pops Music & You Education Program. This program provides in-school youth music education helping to expose students to new learning experiences and positive role models while developing creativity, providing tools for communication and enabling students to build a strong sense of self.
