The Pops salutes popular works by Barry Manilow, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, John Williams, Billy Joel and Michel Legrande. This series features nationally known Broadway singer and Phantom of the Opera star, Gary Mauer, along with the winner of the Palm Beach PopStar contest. This concert promises to be an evening full of excitement as we take you on a musical journey from the 60's to today.
The Best of Broadway
November & December 2007
Soprano Tamra Hayden, who has appeared on Broadway in productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables and others will join Jonathan Dokuchitz of Hairspray fame in showcasing songs from Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story and Les Misérables. Each season the Maestro creates this special program featuring your favorite selections. The Broadway concerts are among the most popular of the Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops.
The Genius of Cole Porter

Tony Award winner Lillias White returns to the Palm Beach Pops when they pay tribute to the clever lyrics and sophisticated melodies of Cole Porter. Anything goes when the Pops present this rousing tribute to this all-American composer, songwriter and musical master.

Two-time Tony nominee Christine Andreas and Michael Andrew, the man Merv Griffin called the “greatest living singer”, both make their debut with Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops in showcasing some of the four-time Oscar and Grammy Award winner Van Heusen’s greatest hits including Come Fly with Me, Here’s That Rainy Day, All the Way, Call Me Irresponsible, Darn That Dream, But Beautiful, and more, along with the works of his frequent collaborator Sammy Cahn.

Another performer makes her debut with the Palm Beach Pops… Maude Maggart. The sultry voiced Maggart, sister of indie rocker Fiona Apple and darling of XM Radio Standard’s Channel, appears in a salute to one of the most prodigious and famous songwriters in history. Mr. Berlin’s works includes Cheek to Cheek, There’s No Business Like Show Business, White Christmas and many more... capturing the essence of the American Songbook in this concert series.
Remembering the King of Swing -- Benny Goodman

The Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops April series are among the most popular with patrons. Devotees of swing and jazz look forward all year to this final concert. This year promises to be one of the most exciting when we remember the King of Swing Benny Goodman featuring by popular demand the legendary songstress Lynn Roberts and world-famous clarinetist Ken Peplowski, who Mel Torme called “magic”. Lynn Roberts is the only female singer to appear with five major big bands including the Benny Goodman Orchestra.
