Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops are searching for the next Palm Beach PopStar, a talented amateur vocalist, to appear live in concert with them during their 2010-2011 concert series.
The Palm Beach PopStar competition starts with a round of videotaped auditions submitted between September 1 thru 30, 2010. Contestants should select one of his or her choice, with accompaniment and no longer than 5 minutes each. All entrants must be 18 years or older.
- Send or deliver video audition (DVD) to Palm Beach PopStar, 500 S. Australian Ave., Suite 100, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. Office hours Mon-Fri, 10am to 4pm.
- Email video (10mb or less)
- Attend an open call audition at John Bull English Pub in West Palm Beach on September 15 or 29 from 7-10 pm. Auditions will be videotaped for further review.Register here.
Entries must be received by September 30, 2010 at 5pm EST.
Palm Beach Pops management will evaluate the auditions and choose up to 15 contestants. These finalists will perform in front of a panel of celebrity including Maestro Bob Lappin, Pop culture writer and columnist for The Palm Beach Post Leslie Gray Streeter, SeaView 95.9FM/960AM radio personality Joe Raineri, WXEL FM Jazz Impressions' host Stu Grant, Palm Beach Daily News music critic David A. Frye, and past Palm Beach PopStar winner Daniel Cochran.
In addition to a cash prize and other gifts, the winner will perform live on stage in front of thousands with Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops for six nights. Concerts are at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach; the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton; and the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens.
